Gym Class Heroes Concert
I went to a Gym Class Heroes concert yesterday at KOKO, a club in Camden. Initially, the concert was supposed to take place back in October however it got canceled because Travie had some health issues :(. Luckily it got rescheduled! Notice how the tickets dated from October 2011 hehe…I went there with my flatmate, her majesty QA. It was initially her idea to go to a GCH gig because they released their tour dates right at the peak of her Travie McCoy craze! I’ve never actually been to KOKO before but would definitely return there some other time, simply because the place is gorgeous!
The opening act was this girl group called Stooshe. I actually quite like them! They have a song featuring Travie, which was their closing performance – I actually thought that Travie would jump out on stage and sing with them but to my disappointment, that did not happen :(. But other than that, their performances were quite good – very bubbly, energetic and really fun to watch on stage!
The second act was the Skints, a sort of reggae band. They were meant to be the original opening act for GCH back in October. Their music was pretty chill, although i had no idea what on earth they were singing hahaha… that’s the extent of my understanding of reggae for you right there. Then, after a really long wait, GCH finally came on stage!! woop woop! When the band finally came out on stage, everyone just started pushing and crushing each other – it was proper insane… But thanks to that I managed to somehow slide closer to the stage hehe. It’s as if we lose all sense of how it is like to be polite/civilised as soon as the main act comes on stage hahaha.
These girls were fighting over a towel that a band member used? In fact, people were fighting all over the place for the stuff that were thrown off-stage. My flatmate caught a drumstick but then this massive girl snatched it forcefully from her :(! Soo unfair!! That girl was proper huge … she knocked out both me and QA LOL… and I’m like 5″8… go figure … oh well … THAT SUCKED!
Nevertheless, I had such a fantastic time yesterday – GCH were amaaazing! I’ll be honest, I haven’t been a big fan of the band but I’ve gone to like their stuff more and more. I came there knowing only like 4 of their most commercialised songs lol. It was rather funny/embarrassing when everyone was yelling the lyrics and I went “ASJDKJFAJKLD….BLA…BLA!” – All good fun though! But I still can’t figure how come the tickets were so cheap! We got the tickets for 14 pounds each – which was an amazing deal. Anyways, aside from a couple of scuffs, that was on awesome experience! Makes me want to check out some more gigs soon.
