I have a love-hate relationship with high heeled shoes. As much as I love buying them, wearing them and simply staring at them, I often end up hating them for killing my feet and leaving me with countless blisters. Sometimes, the height also intimidates me. However, I’ve recently purchased this pair of wedged sandals from Aldo that made me disregard all the resentment that I have for high heeled shoes. I haven’t been a huge fan of Aldo but I’ve been loving these so that I’ve also completely overlooked the fact that they were insane 5″ heels. They are amazingly comfortable! I was literally running around town and my feet did not hurt at all. (Big thanks to my talented friend Musfira for taking that picture of me awkwardly standing on top of a tree trunk!)
They’re called the ‘Hardney‘ Wedges Sandals. When I first spotted them in an Aldo store on Oxford Street, I was a bit hesitant about the height and decided to leave it. But after walking past 3 other Aldo stores on the same street, I thought to myself…YOLO! – And that I needed them in my life. The fact that they turned out to be extra comfortable made it an even greater buy.
Usually, I don’t buy shoes that are higher than 4″ but recently, I have been having a strange obsession with chunky platform sandals. Probably because I’ve been seeing platform/flatform shoes everywhere (…oh gullible me).Every time I’d enter a shoes store, I’d linger for a while, staring at these type of shoes and then chicken out, fearing that they were too high and that I wouldn’t therefore be able to wear them anywhere. But I figured that they are so versatile, you can wear them anything really. Plus, it’s supposed to be summer (amidst this really horrible in the UK at the moment) so, why not?
Here are some other sandals that I was ogling at. I considered purchasing (still am) the Westii Wedges from Steve Madden (top middle) but wasn’t sure which retailer carried them in the UK…
