I often walk by Somerset house however I have never actually went in there to ice skate until recently – and boy, have I been missing so much fun in my life. I went there with a couple of my friends during the afternoon to take advantage of the student discount, which amounted to £9.60 each and it costed an addition £1 extra to store 2 items in the cloakroom, which seemed reasonable considering that it would usually cost around £15 to enter these seasonal ice skating rinks. The session lasted 1 hour but we had plenty of time to trip and fall and hug some walls (ok lame attempt at rhyming right there). The last time that I went ice skating was about 3 years ago so I was a bit worried that I wouldn’t remember how to skate anymore. However, I must say that I’m pretty proud of myself – I didn’t fall once (but where’s the fun in that?). That being said, I’m not the greatest ice-skater and have actually got no clue on how to break or decelerate. Thus, with people constantly falling in front of you, it turned into a crazy obstacle race! Once the session ended, we proceeded to go to Caffè Nero to get their “Hot Chocolate Milano”. It was literally smooth liquid chocolate with whipped cream on top – heavenly! We got into a bit of a sugar high after, considering how sweet those drinks tasted. It was such a fun afternoon to spend with my friends, it made us forget that it was still the middle of the week and that we had deadlines and essays to complete!
On a side note, all these pictures were taken with my new iPhone 5 and I must say that the quality of the pictures superseded my expectations! I have the slight impression that I will be giving my Lumix compact a bit of rest now. I’ve also got my Instagram account running now so if you’re on there follow me @socapricious!
