I recently went to the Mr. Brainwash Art Show at the Old Sorting Office on New Oxford Street. His work is best described as an eclectic mix between Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons and Roy Lichtenstein, with some elements that bear an uncanny resemblance with the works of Banksy. You should definitely check out Banksy’s movie “Exit through the Gift Shop” to have an idea about who this Mr. Brainwash is. There are many speculations about how Mr. Brainwash has been fabricated by Banksy to make a mockery of our society’s perception of art. In the movie, you see Mr. Brainwash aka. Thierry Guetta clumsily producing these “artwork” and making millions out of them – a pretty hilarious plot. Conspiracy theories aside, I had a great time at this exhibition. Loved the fact that they allowed us to take pictures! Moreover, as you make your way out (and actually “exit through [a] gift shop”!) you are invited to make a donation and take away with you 2 posters and 2 postcards.
