If you knew me personally, you’d know that I’m pretty much a glutton. My days usually revolve around deciding what to eat next. So when I opened Instagram to see my friends spamming with pictures of Magnum ice cream followed with the hashtag “#MagnumxSelfridges”, I knew exactly where I was heading to that day.
Magnum is currently running a campaign with Selfridges, in celebration of their 25th year anniversary (up to August I believe). By visiting Magnum’s beautifully decorated stalls at Selfridges, you’ll have the chance to design your own Magnum ice cream by picking your own ice cream base, coating and topping. For my part, I opted for vanilla ice cream, dark chocolate coating with crushed meringue, almond flakes and gold feuilletines as toppings. On hindsight, I should have opted for more adventurous options like the edible flowers and what not just to make the ice cream look more colourful and pretty. That being said, it was still yummy at the end of the day so no complaints.
At £4.50, it’s slightly more expensive than your regular Magnum ice cream but for what it’s worth, it was quite a fun and exciting experience. The staff there were really funny and friendly as well, they were really encouraging us to post pictures on instagram and twitter. Overall, I’d say that this is a really enjoyable marketing campaign by Magnum. I mean, they actually managed to drag me out of bed for this. But then again, when food’s involved, it’s hard for me to say no to.
