You’ve all heard the old adage that goes “time is money”, so when I got to add that extra hour to my clock as daylight saving time came to an end, it was like winning the lottery. But then, everything has its price. Since winter time kicked in, it feels pretty much like midnight every time I got off work or went home from Uni. Spending the whole day indoors meant that I didn’t get much direct contact with sunlight. It got to a point where I felt like I was turning into a vampire. Tough luck, London isn’t the sunniest place on earth either. So when I met my friend Sechi (who took these awesome pictures for me by the way!) for lunch the other day, I had to insist on sitting outside amidst the freezing cold weather. A little bit of sunshine goes a long way – the perfect cure for winter blues!

The very ‘subtle’ billboards in the background should give you an indication of where I dragged my flatmate to this past weekend, but more about that later on. For now, let’s talk about clothes. I think I need a sort of intervention. For the past month or so, I don’t think that I have pulled off an outfit that does not consist of at least a piece that is made out of leather or that basically looks like leather. Even my previous post, aptly named “leather shorts”, contains the word itself in the title. When I showed my mum my recent pictures, she chuckled and said that people used to wear those kind of leather clothes when she was my age. She also added that she still has a pair of leather trousers from back in the days, stored somewhere in our basement back home. My first thought was that I wished I could just go back and dig through her stash of clothes to look for those precious gems. Sigh… But meanwhile, I’ll just rely on the High Street to feed my new obsession. I recently bought this oxblood coloured faux leather skirt from H&M. I’m most certainly convinced that I was drawn towards it because of the ’leather’ factor. I’ve never owned a leather skirt, let alone a red coloured so there must be something specific about it that yelled out “BUY ME!”. I almost went on to pair it with a leather jacket but then I drew the line and opted for a blazer instead to balance out the roughness of the skirt. Otherwise, I’d probably start to develop my own an alter-ego and pretend to be part of some sort of biker gang.
PS: Fun fact, just realised that my flatmate is wearing the same pair of boots that Aluna from Alunageorge is wearing in that picture on my FNO post. – and if you’re wondering, they’re from DUNE.

I went to a small gig near King’s Cross with my flatmate yesterday. Scars on 45 were playing and Dia Frampton was opening for them. I honestly didn’t know any of the acts beforehand but it’s always good fun to try something new. This is why I love living in London, there’s always something new to do everyday! My flatmate was looking forward to seeing Dia, who was a former The Voice Australia contestant. Although we arrived a bit late and unfortunately missed her act, it was still fun – we got to see Scars on 45! Originally from Britain, they apparently are quite big in the US, having had their songs features in many TV Series soundtrack such as Grey’s Anatomy and CSI New York (thank you Wikipedia for your kind wisdom). Scars on 45 band members seemed really friendly and they were pretty good live, they even stayed after the show to hang out with the audience which I thought was really cool.
